Proceedings of the Centennial Anniversary of the Presbyterian Church at Sparta, New Jersey, November 23, 1886.

Description

Sparta, New Jersey lies in northern New Jersey. This database contains records of the Sparta Presbyterian Church at the time of its centennial celebration in 1886. Also included is a history of the community. The author writes, "The main end in view in writing this volume was to awaken greater attachment to the old church whose history it records. Nothing has been discovered to take aught from the repute of the great and good man, who, coming from a populous town and surroundings of comparative comfort, could yet find time to establish the worship of God on this sparsely settled frontier." The records in this data will be beneficial to those with ancestry in early New Jersey.

Extended Description

Histories of Sussex and Warren Counties were used in compiling this data. Several other available works on the history of the counties and the state were also employed. Names have been spelled in each case as they were in the records.
